Unboxing Ducati for Personal Video Content, Cleverly Taking the Opportunity or a Sign of Apathy?

Good news fellas! Our country, Indonesia, is trusted
by the world to host the FIM Superbike World Championship! WSBK itself is a
mass production motorcycle racing event. However, the motorbike used has been
specially overhauled to take part in the race. Currently, there are five
manufacturers competing in the WSBK event, namely BMW Motorrad, Yamaha, Ducati,
Honda, and Kawasaki.
Cool bikes, isn’t it?! Plenty of people are allured to
celebrate this event, their enthusiasm peaked! Even there is someone who unboxed
one of the pretty Ducati before it’s time, maybe he is too excited for
Christmas until he opens up the box first? Apparently, this person only wanted
to make a video content by taking advantage of his privileges to be able to see
the inspection procedure of this superbike, but we need to gain understanding
on why such action became controversial.
These superbike package inspections were carried out
to ensure that the goods brought into Indonesia are in accordance with the
master list. The results of the inspection will later become the basis for
examining the goods that will be brought out of Indonesia after the race is
over, whether they are in accordance with the number and type of goods brought
in.
Inspection of logistics cargo is carried out according
to the rules, has received permission and is accompanied by Dorna Sport during
the process. The involvement of the Freight Forwarder got permission from Dorna
Sport and Customs to open the crate and check because it needed to take the
chassis number.
It is unfortunate that when the inspection was carried
out, there was someone who had no interest and did not understand the ongoing
procedure, took a video of it and unfortunately, it went viral with
inappropriate news content. It was an act of photography ethics violation and
this can also be used as a depiction of how low the knowledge about documenting
certain conditions.
Countries are developing, the infrastructure builds
rapidly, motorbikes are racing, therefore our mindset should be more precise,
right? The government already spent a lot of money for this Mandalika circuit
and there is a more expensive price that we should pay after this controversy,
which is the world trust. Trust is an expensive thing to recover, so the
organizing committee took action to explain this matter. MGPA President
Director Ricky Baheramsjah has discussed this with Dorna Sport and apologized,
luckily they can understand.
In conclusion, recording the unboxing video is lack of
awareness that the perpetrator behold—apathy. This condition serves as a notice
to all of us that not everything we find interesting must be documented without
regard to the available procedures as well as being an evaluation material for
the organizers to improve the communication and security within the system.
